Following are the results of the April 2016 bird banding session at the Lowry Nature Center in Carver Park Reserve, Victoria, Minnesota (just south and west of Lake Minnetonka, east central Minnesota).

Today's session was atypical for an April session in Minnesota. We have had a tremendously tough spring as far as birds and people are concerned. Cold Temps and persistent snow storms dumping heav, wet snow have really interferred with spring migration. Many species are about 2 weeks behind normal arrival dates. The list of birds banded looks more like mid March instead of mid April. The one highlight was the recaptured Northern Cardinal which was banded back in 2008 as an AHY bird. That makes this fellow at least 6 years old. We hope to see him for many more years.

Our next banding session will be May 2016.
